Abdominoplasty is performed to correct the abdomen that has become large, saggy, and wrinkled over time.
This procedure, also known as a tummy tuck, is a commonly requested surgery of the abdomen. Often, the procedure is performed to correct the excess skin and stretch marks after childbirth, the excess and drooping skin folds after a significant loss of weight, and the skin breakdown of the undersurface of the skin folds. In addition, this procedure reshapes the abdominal wall to make them more proportionate to the remainder of the body for the particular height and weight of the patient.
The abdominoplasty is achieved by the surgical removal of excess skin and fatty tissue, through incisions around the lower portions of the abdomen, and around the umbilicus.
This operation is performed by Dr. Ariyan under general anesthesia. Most often the patient will require a short stay in the hospital or in a medical hotel room.
At the time of your initial office consultation visit, Dr. Ariyan will be listening to you about your wishes and expectations. He will be discussing the procedure in greater detail, and explaining the risks and complications which you should consider.
