Breast augmentation is performed to increase the size of the small breasts, or to enlarge assymetrical breasts in order to achieve relatively equal sizes.
This procedure, also known as augmentation mammaplasty, is the most commonly requested cosmetic surgery of the breast performed in the United States at this time. Often, the procedure is performed to enlarge the breasts after they have become smaller after a woman has given birth to a child.
The augmentation is achieved by the placement of a surgical prosthetic implant in a pocket that is made behind the breast, through an incision either under the breast fold, or around the nipple.
This operation is commonly performed by Dr. Ariyan under general anesthesia in the outpatient setting. Following surgery, you will be awakening in the recovery room before being discharged to your home or to a medical hotel room.
At the time of your initial office consultation visit, Dr. Ariyan will be listening to you about your wishes and expectations. He will be discussing the procedure in greater detail, and explaining the risks and complications which you should consider.
