    With the increase in the average age of the population, and with the increasing evidence of the effects of sun damage over the years, one of the most effective measures in preventive medicine has been the skin tumor screening sessions. Patients can be seen and evaluated with the dermatologists for early skin changes from the sun in order to treat them before malignant transformations develop. High risk patients can be counseled in the prevention of further sun damage. Those with malignant changes can be treated early while it can be performed as an office procedure, rather than at a later stage when the more advanced cases require more complicated operative procedures.
